When the snow gives way to meadows, Tignes Lake completely transforms. Located at the foot of the Grande Motte glacier, this natural body of water becomes the heart of the resort and attracts both families and thrill-seekers alike. While swimming is prohibited due to glacial waters that rarely exceed 9°C, the possibilities for enjoying the lake are far from limited.

Stand-up paddle, kayak, canoe, pedal boats, and even catamarans let you glide across its emerald waters with snow-capped peaks as your backdrop. The more daring can even try Acroland, a spectacular water jump where you zoom down enormous ramps before finishing your ride in the lake.

Hiking, biking, and mountain activities galore

Around the lake, the mountains become an endless adventure playground. A pleasant walk circles the water and remains accessible to everyone, including families with strollers. Sports enthusiasts can then tackle the hiking trails, legendary mountain passes, or mountain biking routes that crisscross the Haute-Tarentaise landscapes. Rock climbing, paragliding, whitewater rafting, canyoning, and via ferrata also round out the summer offerings for those seeking maximum thrills.

Concerts, relaxation and exceptional panoramic views

Lake Tignes also knows how to slow down the pace. The Sports Beach brings together beach volleyball, football, tennis courts and a skatepark, while fishing enthusiasts can try their luck in the permitted areas. Twice a week, the Barge Evenings offer an unusual spectacle with free concerts organized on a floating stage in the middle of the lake. Accessible free of charge year-round with free parking, this site perched at 2,100 meters altitude proves that in Tignes, summer is absolutely no match for the ski season.
