The most coveted: Poppies

.

Head over to the 7th district to discover this unique pizzeria, boasting traditional Italian craftsmanship and exceptional flavor quality. On the menu: about twenty artisanal pizzas that are ultra tasty and made with the finest fresh ingredients, including many from organic farming. We love the dough, which is both crispy and fluffy, aged for over 72 hours, as well as the homemade tomato sauce made with organic French tomatoes. The service is attentive: get ready to be pampered! The decor is as perfect as the flavors, blending dolce vita vibes with super colorful vintage touches; everything comes together for a moment of pure happiness. And if the pizzas are sensational, just wait until you see desserts like the tiramisu, delicious and especially gargantuan!

The most delicious: Antonio & Marco

Antonio & Marco Pizza Lyon

When the new generation (graduates of the Paul Bocuse Institute) takes on pizza, sparks fly! For the past few years, the Antonio & Marco siblings have been delighting Lyon and its surroundings with recipes straight from Italy. With locations in Cordeliers, Tassin, and the 5th arrondissement, they masterfully bring together all the flavors of Italy: antipasti, arancini, and cannoli, but above all, Neapolitan pizzas made with their own sourdough (72-hour fermentation) and organic flour. These are ultra-generous wonders (among the most generously topped in the city) that offer a taste journey under the Transalpine sun. What a treat for us!

The Most Handmade: La Scala Siciliana

La Scala Siciliana Pizza Lyon

When it comes to wood-fired pizza, we can't overlook the amazing pizzas at La Scala Siciliana. Since 2011, this team of brothers (one in service, the other in the kitchen) has been delighting visitors with an Italian-style warm welcome. Their traditional pizza recipes are mastered to perfection and made with the finest ingredients from each region of Italy. And if you're feeling adventurous, La Scala Siciliana also serves up a range of post-baked topping pizzas and a truffle recipe that's simply magical... We highly recommend it and suggest making a reservation. P.S.: We’ve heard through the grapevine that a new location will open in Croix-Rousse in 2023...

The Oldest: Chez Carlo

Do you want to enjoy the most traditional pizzas in Lyon? In 1958, Lyon welcomed its very first pizzeria: Chez Carlo. 65 years later, this spot continues to be a beloved gem in Presqu'île and on Palais Grillet street, enveloped in a sweetly transalpine atmosphere with authentic decor and a majestic mythological mural. If Chez Carlo is one of the best Italian restaurants in Lyon (with its antipasti, homemade pasta, and risotto prepared in every imaginable way, alongside specialties like osso bucco in a pizza dough crust and veal Milanese with tomato pasta), it also serves some of the most delicious pizzas in the city. A true little Italian paradise in Presqu'île that keeps delighting even the most discerning palates.

Located in Saint-Just (and also in Vaise since early January 2023), this tiny little shop whips up pizzas inspired by Floridian and Italian cultures. Of course, the toppings are generous, the recipes are delicious, and the results make us eager to go back very, very soon! Note that the pizzas are only available for takeaway. And with the beautiful Jardin des Curiosités just nearby, it's hard to resist the urge to devour them while enjoying one of the most magical views over Lyon and its surroundings!

With a totally vibrant and colorful decor, NAPL serves up pizzas with authentic Neapolitan sauce, a fluffy crust, and delicious 100% fresh Italian ingredients. Whether you’re there for the taste or the view, the outcome is definitely satisfying. It’s hard to get more trendy and in tune with the times! The most American-Neapolitan: Zapilicious

Freshly opened at the foot of the Croix-Rousse slopes, Zapilicious is a vibrant urban pizza bar inspired by Neapolitan and American styles, paired with local craft beers (on tap or bottled). Their dough (aged for a minimum of 36 hours) is generously topped, featuring hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes seasoned in-house, top-quality fior di latte mozzarella, and authentic New York pepperoni! All these delights start at just 10 euros. If you’re into unique flavors, we recommend the Blue Peppe, a pizza topped with Bavarian blue cheese on a creamy base, with their famous pepperoni – a must-try!

This unique setting is where Cavallo Pizzeria cooks up contemporary Neapolitan pizzas crafted by Neapolitan pizzaioli. Each recipe is made with fresh ingredients that arrive straight from Italy twice a week. You can bet that freshness and authenticity are guaranteed. The most Franco-Italian: GIO GIO

Gio Gio Pizza Lyon

Right in the heart of Lyon, close to the Jacobins square, GIO GIO's pizzas have quickly won everyone over. Here, everything is prepared using local and Italian ingredients (organic flour produced by a mill in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, tomato sauce made from Provence tomatoes, olive oil, cold cuts, and cheeses from Auvergne-Rhône Alpes as well as from Apulia in Italy). The pizzas are delicious, generous, varied, and offered at very affordable prices. It's a perfect marriage of the best of France and Italy packed into one pizza... MAMMAMIA!

The most famous: Maria.

Maria pizza lyon

We all know that Croix-Rousse is a neighborhood full of delicious treats and culinary gems. Among them, let’s talk about Maria, the little sister of the brunch temple known as Le Desjeuneur. With its authentic Neapolitan pizzas that are perfectly puffed and baked in a stunning traditional (and stylish) oven, Maria has mastered the art of dough cooking with flair. The menu features only 8 pizza recipes (with some changing quite frequently), showcasing the freshness and authenticity of the ingredients. Everything here is perfect, from the welcoming atmosphere to the delightful flavors and charming décor. This is truly one of the best spots for pizza and dolce vita in Lyon!
