The most sought after: Poppies

.

Head over to the 7th district to discover this unique pizzeria that embodies the exceptional Italian craftsmanship with amazing taste quality. On the menu: around twenty ultra-tasty artisan pizzas made with the finest fresh ingredients, including those sourced from organic farming. We love the dough that’s both crispy and fluffy, aged for over 72 hours, along with the homemade tomato sauce prepared with French organic tomatoes. The service is delightful: get ready to be pampered! The decor is as perfect as the flavors, blending dolce vita with ultra-colorful vintage vibes, everything is in place for a happy moment. And if the pizzas are sensational, just wait until you see the desserts like the deliciously gigantic tiramisu!

The most indulgent: Antonio & Marco

Antonio & Marco Pizza Lyon

When the new generation (graduates of the Paul Bocuse Institute) takes on pizza, sparks fly! For the past few years, the Antonio & Marco siblings have been delighting Lyon and its surroundings with recipes straight from Italy. Present in Cordeliers, Tassin, and even in the 5th arrondissement, this restaurant masterfully brings together all the flavors of Italy: antipasti, arancini, and cannoli, but above all, Neapolitan pizzas with dough made using their own sourdough (72-hour fermentation) and organic flour. These ultra-generous wonders (among the most generously topped in the city) offer a taste journey under the transalpine sun. To our great delight!

The most artisanal: La Scala Siciliana

La Scala Siciliana Pizza Lyon

When it comes to wood-fired pizza, you absolutely can't overlook the pizzas at La Scala Siciliana. Since 2011, this team of brothers (one serving, the other cooking) has been knocking it out of the park, treating visitors to a warm Italian welcome. Their traditional pizza recipes are perfected and crafted with the finest ingredients from each region of Italy. And if you're feeling adventurous, La Scala Siciliana also whips up some delicious pizzas topped after baking, along with a truly magical truffle recipe... We highly recommend it and suggest making a reservation. P.S.: We've heard whispers that a new location will open in Croix-Rousse in 2023...

The oldest: At Carlo's

Feeling like tasting the most classic pizzas of Lyon? In 1958, Lyon welcomed its very first pizzeria: Chez Carlo. 65 years later, this spot is still a beloved gem in Presqu'île and on Palais Grillet street, wrapped in a gentle Transalpine atmosphere with authentic decor and a majestic mythological mural. If Chez Carlo is one of the best Italian restaurants in Lyon (with its antipasti, homemade pasta, and risottos in every sauce imaginable, along with specialties like osso bucco in a pizza dough crust and Milanese veal cutlet with tomato pasta), it also offers some of the most delicious pizzas in the city. A true little Italian paradise in Presqu'île that keeps delighting the most discerning palates.

The most original and Floridian: Hermosa Pizza

Hermosa Pizza Lyon

Located in Saint-Just (and also in Vaise since early January 2023), this tiny little shop creates pizzas inspired by Floridian and Italian cultures. Naturally, the toppings are generous, the recipes delicious, and the result leaves us eager to return very soon! It's important to note that the pizzas are available for takeout only. Plus, with the beautiful Jardin des Curiosités just around the corner, it’s impossible to resist the urge to devour them while enjoying one of the most magical views of Lyon and its surroundings.

Among the references for modern Neapolitan pizzas (it was the very first), we ask for NAPL! In a totally crazy decor bursting with colors, NAPL delivers pizzas with Neapolitan sauce, fluffy dough that rises beautifully, and 100% fresh, delicious Italian ingredients. Whether you go for a treat for your taste buds or your eyes, the result is guaranteed to impress. It's hard to get any trendier or more in the moment. The pAmerican-Neapolitan love: Zapilicious

.

Freshly settled at the foot of the Croix-Rousse slopes, Zapilicious is a concept of an urban pizza bar inspired by Neapolitan and American styles, paired with local craft beers (on tap or in bottles). On the dough (aged for at least 36 hours) generously topped, you can find hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes seasoned in-house, top-quality fior di latte mozzarella, and authentic New York pepperoni! Wonderful creations available starting from just 10 euros. If you love originality, we recommend the Blue Peppe, a pizza topped with Bavarian blue cheese, on a creamy base with their famous pepperoni—absolutely a must-try!

Gio Gio Pizza Lyon

Right in the heart of Lyon, near the Place des Jacobins, GIO GIO pizzas have quickly won everyone over. Here, everything is made from local and Italian products (organic flour from a mill in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, tomato sauce made from Provençal tomatoes, olive oil, cold cuts, and cheeses from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Puglia in Italy). The pizzas are delicious, generous, varied, and offered at very affordable prices. It’s a perfect blend of the best of France and Italy all in a pizza... MAMMAMIA!

The most famous: Maria.

Maria pizza lyon

We all know it: the Croix-Rousse is a neighborhood full of delicious treats and culinary gems. Among them, let’s talk about Maria, the little sister of the brunch temple, Le Desjeuneur. With its authentic Neapolitan pizzas, perfectly puffed and baked in a beautiful typical (and stylish) oven, Maria truly masters the art of dough cooking. The menu features only 8 pizza recipes (with some changing quite regularly), showcasing the freshness and authenticity of the ingredients. Everything here is perfect, from the warm welcome to the incredible taste, and even the decor. This is one of the best spots in Lyon for pizza and dolce vita!
