We love the dough, which is both crispy and fluffy, aged for over 72 hours, along with the homemade tomato sauce crafted from organic French tomatoes. The service is incredibly attentive: get ready to be pampered! The decor is as perfect as the flavors, blending dolce vita with ultra-colorful vintage vibes, everything is gathered for a moment of happiness. And if the pizzas are sensational, just wait till you see the desserts, like the tiramisu, which is delicious but above all, gigantic!

The most gourmet: Antonio & Marco

When the new generation (graduates from the Paul Bocuse Institute) takes on pizza, it creates sparks! For a few years now, the Antonio & Marco siblings have been delighting Lyon and its surroundings with recipes straight from Italy. Present in Cordeliers, Tassin, and even in the 5th arrondissement, this establishment brilliantly brings together all the flavors of Italy: antipasti, arancini, and cannoli, but especially Neapolitan pizzas made with their own sourdough (72-hour fermentation) and organic flour. These ultra-generous wonders (among the most generously topped in the city) offer a tasty journey under the transalpine sun. It’s a delight for us!

The most artisanal : La Scala Siciliana

When it comes to wood-fired pizza, you simply can't overlook the pizzas from La Scala Siciliana. Since 2011, this team of brothers (one takes care of the service, while the other is in the kitchen) has been spreading the love by welcoming visitors with that warm Italian hospitality. Their traditional pizza recipes are mastered to perfection, crafted with the finest ingredients from each region of Italy. And if you're in the mood for something a bit more unique, La Scala Siciliana also offers pizzas topped after baking and a truly magical truffle recipe... We give it a big thumbs up and recommend making a reservation! P.S.: We hear that a new location will be opening in Croix-Rousse in 2023...

The most New York-like: Fantino

An Italian restaurant with a New York vibe, an atmosphere that swings from chill to festive, amazing dishes, and cocktails that pop? The Oldest: Chez Carlo

Do you want to savor some of the most traditional pizzas in Lyon? In 1958, Lyon welcomed its very first pizzeria: Chez Carlo. Sixty-five years later, this spot still shines in Presqu'île and on rue Palais Grillet, offering a delightful experience that combines authentic decor with majestic mythological murals. Chez Carlo is not just one of the best Italian restaurants in Lyon (with its antipasti, homemade pasta, and delicious risotto in every style, as well as specialties like osso buco in pizza dough and Milanese veal cutlet with tomato pasta), but it also serves some of the most mouthwatering pizzas in the city. It truly is a little Italian paradise in Presqu'île that continues to thrill even the most discerning palates.

The most original and Floridian: Hermosa Pizza

Located in Saint-Just (and also in Vaise since the beginning of January 2023), this tiny little shop creates pizzas inspired by Floridian and Italian cultures. So naturally, the toppings are generous, the recipes delicious, and the result leaves us wanting to come back very, very soon! Note that the pizzas are only available for takeout. And with the beautiful Jardin des Curiosités right nearby, it's hard to resist the urge to devour them while enjoying one of the most magical views of Lyon and its surroundings!

The Most Stylish: NAPL

With an absolutely amazing decor bursting with colors, NAPL serves up pizzas with authentic Neapolitan sauce, fluffy crust, and delicious, 100% fresh Italian ingredients. Whether you go for your taste buds or your eyes, the outcome is definitely guaranteed. It’s hard to get more trendy and in tune with the times. To top it all off, the restaurant also boasts a large terrace with 100 seats available year-round. If you love full truffle pizzas, we highly recommend the one with truffle oil, truffle ham, and truffle mozzarella—it’s pure madness!

The most American-Neapolitan: Zapilicious

Freshly opened at the bottom of the Croix-Rousse slopes, Zapilicious is an urban pizza bar concept inspired by Neapolitan and American styles, paired with local craft beers (on tap or in bottles). On the dough (aged for a minimum of 36 hours), generously topped, you'll find hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes seasoned in-house, first-rate fior di latte mozzarella, and genuine New York pepperoni! These delights start at just 10 euros. If you're looking for something unique, we recommend the Blue Peppe, a pizza with Bavarian blue cheese on a creamy base topped with their famous pepperoni—a must-try!

The most spectacular: Cavallo Pizzeria

Head to a dream location, nestled between the Opera and Place des Terreaux, to explore one of Lyon's oldest traboules and its 700 m². An unusual setting where Cavallo Pizzeria crafts contemporary Neapolitan pizzas made by skilled Neapolitan pizzaioli. Each recipe is created using fresh ingredients that arrive straight from Italy twice a week. You can bet that freshness and authenticity are guaranteed! Among the house specialties, we recommend The Queen in Grey, a pizza topped with fior di latte, cooked ham, oyster mushrooms, herbed ricotta, oil, and basil... Are you already drooling?!

The most Franco-Italian: GIO GIO

Right in the heart of Lyon, near the Place des Jacobins, everyone has quickly agreed on GIO GIO’s pizzas. Here, everything is prepared using local and Italian products (organic flour produced by a mill in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, tomato sauce made from Provence tomatoes, olive oil, and cold cuts and cheeses from Auvergne-Rhône Alpes and Puglia, Italy). The pizzas are delicious, generous, varied, and offered at very affordable prices. It’s a perfect blend of the best of France and Italy all in one pizza... MAMMAMIA!

The most famous: Maria.

We all know it: Croix-Rousse is a neighborhood full of delicious treats and culinary gems. Among them, let us introduce you to Maria, the little sister of the brunch temple Le Desjeuneur. With its authentic Neapolitan pizzas, perfectly puffed and cooked in a beautiful, typical (and stylish) oven, Maria masters the art of dough cooking with skill. The menu features only 8 pizza recipes (with some changing quite regularly), showcasing the freshness and authenticity of the ingredients. Everything here is perfect, from the warm welcome to the delightful flavors and charming decor. This is truly one of the best places for pizzas and dolce vita in Lyon!
