The Editor

The pounds of foie gras, salmon, and gratinated oysters with champagne (for the lucky ones) are barely digested and we already have to switch to the king cake. Deep down, it doesn't bother you that much, does it? And since we know you like good things, we have put together a nice selection of the best king cakes in town for you. Plenty to find your happiness and eat like a king. ### The most divine: Dorner Frères After winning the hearts of many foodies at the Lyon Street Food Festival, the Dorner Frères pastry shop has recently settled in the 6th arrondissement of Lyon. For Epiphany, the artists unveil two galette recipes that are simply irresistible: a classic Frangipane and a much more daring one made with hazelnuts, Sobacha (toasted buckwheat), and Martell Cognac. These wonders are available for pre-order and in-store from January 3rd to 26th.

The most organic choice: Antoinette

Undisputed queen of the 7th district, Antoinette bakery quickly made a name for itself by offering top-notch products made from organic flour. So, naturally, the galette is of the same quality with its traditional filling and flaky almond cream or subtly brioche-like crust. Plus, there's a hidden charm in the galette: each composition is filled with artisanal beans specially created by ceramicist Alejandra Tardy. The perfect way to remember this delicious treat forever.

The most generous: Le Pain du Gone

Specialized in making generous breads, voluptuous pastries, and delicious viennoiseries, Le Pain du Gone also knows how to delight both kids and adults for Epiphany. This year, a square-shaped galette will tantalize your taste buds. Three flavors available: frangipane, apples, and frangipane-chocolate. Plenty of options to please even the most discerning palates.

The most instagrammable: Bouillet

The patron saint of Lyonnaise pastries naturally offers a king cake, and not just any: Séb's (we're close) is not only very beautiful but also delicious. It's impossible to exclude it from the ranking as his creations are always a great success... Whether you prefer traditional, Tatin-style galette, or a chocolate-raspberry mix, you will be drooling.

The premium choice: Séve

Séve is always among the top students, and it's been that way for a long time. Why? Because they offer delicious and tasty galettes with that perfect touch of rum. Although they may be pricier, we assure you they are worth it. We especially love the one filled with red pralines... Yum!

The trendiest spot: Le Kitchen Café

One of our favorite spots tried their hand at making a galette. And it was a great success! So beautiful that it's almost hard to cut into, we assure you that this galette deserves to be savored with delight. Special mention to the subtly caramelized crust that crunches under our hungry teeth.

The Lightest Choice: Partisan Boulanger

A favorite of testers for several years, this galette is especially loved for its lightness and delicacy. Okay, it's still a guilty pleasure but to a lesser extent with a good praline glaze (perfect if you're not a huge fan of frangipane). It also provides a good and gentle transition after the holiday food orgy. A must-try as soon as possible!

The most rum-friendly: Delice des Sens

Their galette earns a place in the sun every year in the rankings thanks to its affordable price, taste, and design. It's hard to better live up to its name than this institution that has mastered the art of enhancing sweet pleasures without breaking the bank. In frangipane, lemon-hazelnut, and candied chestnut versions, we love and recommend it (especially for rum lovers).
