Goodbye Pizza Pino, hello Volfoni! In early March, the famous (but criticized) Pizza Pino restaurant on Place Bellecour in Lyon definitively closed its doors after more than 30 years of service. While the identity of its successor was strongly rumored, we now know for certain that it will be another Italian restaurant chain with Volfoni (much to the dismay of fervent defenders of Lyonnaise cuisine).

Volfoni is a concept owned by the Bertrand group, the same owner of Pizza Pino (as well as Burger King and Au Bureau). The bet of Volfoni is to combine authentic Italian cuisine with the Dolce Vita ambiance of the 1950s. After a few weeks of work that began in March, the address will soon open its doors at the strategic location of Place Bellecour.

Evolutionary menu and aperitivo like in Rome

The menu, which will change four times a year to follow the seasons, has been concocted with the precious help of Italian chef Luana Belmondo. Authentic and colorful, each dish will be made with the best seasonal products. Pizzas, al dente pasta, creamy risottos and much more... there will be something for every palate. The decoration of Volfoni Lyon will immerse us in the atmosphere of traditional trattorias, playing with colorful crockery and ceramics, warm colors.

It has sunny walls and a sunny atmosphere.

Italian cuisine headquarters, Volfoni will also be a prime spot for aperitivos like in Rome. Spritz, signature cocktails, and a selection of Italian wines will be on the menu to accompany shared antipasti. The Lyon restaurant will be the 23rd to sport the Volfoni brand, joining the ambitious movement of the group that aims to reach 100 establishments by 2027. While this is certainly a challenging goal, Volfoni is determined to spread the love for Italian cuisine far and wide, bringing a taste of Italy to every corner.

Donkey, each Volfoni has the instruction to keep a unique touch. What do the people from Lyon think? Drink responsibly.
