The Gault & Millau Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes made a stop in Lyon to celebrate the culinary talents of the region. Among the winners of this 2024 edition, two Lyon names particularly caught the attention: Matthieu Girardon from Burgundy by Matthieu, and Jean-François Têtedoie from Café Terroir.
With two toques and a score of 14.5/20, Matthieu Girardon from Burgundy by Matthieu was awarded the prestigious trophy for Cuisine of the sea, lakes, and rivers. At only 34 years old, this chef passionate about aquatic products has managed to impress the taste buds of the yellow guide inspectors. "Before coming to Lyon, I worked in Savoie, and I have always worked with lake fish. One is never surprised by meat, but one can be by fish," he confided to Tribune de Lyon.
On his side, chef Jean-François Têtedoie, from Café Terroir, also received the Terroir d'exception award at this ceremony. With a chef's hat and a rating of 11.5/20, this committed chef is recognized for his ethical approach and his desire to showcase the good products of the terroir. After being awarded the Coup de cœur at the Trophées de la gastronomie organized by Le Progrès, this new distinction applauds his commitment to authentic and flavorful cuisine.
