In the sometimes too standardized landscape of Lyon's bars, La Faute Aux Ours is a bit of an underdog that we absolutely love. An out-of-this-world place with unfiltered decor, free programming, and a bar where we toast as much as we reshape the world. But today, this nighttime haven in the Guillotière is wobbling. For the past few months, the news hasn’t been good. Not good at all. And with emotion, Charlotte, the co-manager of this unique bar, spoke out on Instagram: “We are in a great deal of difficulty, we’ve been fighting for a year now,” she shares, her eyes shining but her voice strong.

Located for nearly 15 years at 4 Grande Rue de la Guillotière, La Faute Aux Ours has hosted countless evenings, impromptu concerts, bar debates, and love stories that come and go. It’s a neighborhood bar, sure, but it’s also a vibrant place of life and identity, a vital part of the soul of the 7th arrondissement. And as often happens, it’s the most unique and human-centered places that are the first to suffer during tough times.

An online pot to save La Faute aux Ours
To prevent this bastion of authenticity from fading away, an online fundraiser has been launched. The goal is to raise 15,000 euros to avoid closure, give the place a breather, and hopefully, bounce back by September. So far, nearly 1,300 euros have been collected, and the community is coming together. Because we don’t want a sanitized Lyon. Because we still need spaces that overflow, that vibrate, that are alive. Because it would be a real shame for La Faute Aux Ours to disappear without a sound.
