It is a particularly sweet victory for France, which had not climbed this mountain in 16 years. The French team, coached by Grégoire Bardet, shone brightly during the 2024 World Bakery Cup held in Paris at the Sirha Europain exhibition. For two days of fierce competition, 10 teams from around the world competed with ingenuity and skill in creating breads, pastries, and artistic pieces. Among these virtuosos of the dough, Team France was able to prevail, brilliantly surpassing South Korea and Japan on the global bakery podium.

A Lyonnais on Top of the World

And among the 3 members of the French team, there was a Lyonnais: Xavier Sacriste, in charge of the artistic category, added his creative touch to this resounding victory. A trainer at the Lyfe institute (formerly known as Institut Paul Bocuse), he sculpted a captivating artistic piece on the theme of fencing, in perfect harmony with the chosen sports theme in preparation for the 2024 Olympics that will light up the City of Light this summer.

The World Bakery Cup turned out to be a gastronomic spectacle honoring the art and tradition of baking. For the French team, this victory represents a well-deserved recognition of the talent, creativity, and dedication that have shaped their journey.
