On April 29th, chef Pierre Orsi made the decision to close the doors of his famous restaurant in Lyon 6th after 48 years of existence, leaving behind a rich culinary history and a loyal clientele. Since this closure, many candidates have come forward, hoping to seize the opportunity to acquire this prime location. Among them, a fast food giant that has raised the hackles of defenders of Lyonnaise gastronomic culture: the giant McDonald's.

While negotiations are reportedly underway, Pierre Orsi remains elusive about the identity of the potential buyer. "We have two or three interested investors, claimed the chef in statements reported by Tribune de Lyon. These are great opportunities, so I remain optimistic. However, until nothing is signed and I haven't received a check, I can't confirm anything."

McDonald's looking to acquire

According to Lyon Décideurs, the American fast food chain is considering acquiring this impressive space of 1800 square meters spread over 3 levels. McDonald's aims to establish itself in the 6th arrondissement, one of the only two districts in Lyon where the fast food chain is not yet present. Rumors even mention that An enormous offer of around 15 million euros for this acquisition. "Yes, McDonald's is one of the interested candidates, but I cannot add more at the moment," confirmed Pierre Orsi to Lyon Décideurs.

If this transaction materializes, Pierre Orsi's restaurant could undergo a radical transformation, shifting from the elegance of French gastronomic cuisine to the convenience of fast food.
