With a hint of melancholy, we announce the change of ownership, in October, of the Café du Jura, one of the jewels of the Lyon culinary scene, after delighting our taste buds for 49 years with unwavering dedication to Lyonnaise gastronomy.
The Café du Jura without Brigitte is like a pizza without cheese
Ah, Brigitte, the matriarch with a unique character and legendary frankness! "Those who bother me, they can hit the road!" she exclaims. With comebacks as crispy as her dishes, she will leave a difficult void to fill.

Founded in 1867 and taken over in 1974 by Henri and Brigitte Josserand, Café du Jura had a very rocky start. Indeed, Brigitte, totally new to the world of restaurant business, had to quickly learn the ropes. Decades went by, and soon enough, everyone had "Café du Jura" on their lips, both literally and figuratively!

Half a century of joy: thank you Brigitte!
"After spending nearly half a century behind her stoves, my mother, Brigitte, finally deserves to enjoy a well-deserved retirement," says Benoît Josserand, son of this pioneer of Lyonnaise cuisine.
.
So it's a new era that awaits the traditional Lyon restaurants with the change of hands at Café du Jura, but don't worry, the story doesn't end here! Indeed, this emblematic establishment will be taken over by the owners of the bouchon "Le Val d'Isère" who want to continue the spirit of the address, while keeping the same decor and team. A gastronomic rebirth is underway, giving a new lease of life to this beloved spot in the heart of Lyon.
