Among fierce competition featuring dozens of talented artisans dedicated to puff pastry and almonds, the bakery Les Co’Pains d’Antan (13 rue d'Austerlitz in Lyon 4th) and its baker Pierre Mounier truly shone. Gathered this Wednesday, January 8th, at the invitation of the Maison de la Boulangerie Loire Rhône, a jury of discerning palates savored each creation, examining the flakiness, the baking, the frangipane, and of course, the flavor.

If beauty were present in every galette, it's the taste that has catapulted Pierre Mounier to the top. The perfect marriage between the creamy frangipane and the divine crunch of the puff pastry made all the difference.

A baker with a sparkling track record

In the rest of the rankings, we find Florian Aupoix, also from the Boulangerie Les Co'pains d'Antan but at 47 cours Franklin Roosevelt in Lyon 6th, taking the second place on the podium, while René Frédérico Fretes Lopez from the Boulangerie pâtisserie Place Charles de Gaulle (C.Cial Les Vernes in Givors) completes the top trio.

At the same time, the competition recognized the best apprentices in the Rhône for galette-making. And at this level, it's Thyphaine Bonnet from the Maison Deschamps (2 place des Archives in Lyon 2nd) who took home the first prize, followed by Recep Uguz from Maison Deschamps as well (114 rue de Sèze).

in Lyon 6th) and from Nathan Bellanger of Maison Bettant at 33 Avenue Henri Barbusse in Villeurbanne.
