The 3rd edition of the best Galette contest in the Rhône confirms its status as an unmissable event for artisanal baking. On Wednesday, January 8, 2026, the community hall in Villié-Morgon hosted a competition that has quickly become a true barometer of local artisanal know-how. Both seasoned professionals and young talents showed that tradition can harmonize with quality and modernity.

In total, 22 candidates showed up to defend the galette with true craftsmanship. Eighteen professionals, divided between employees and employers, along with four apprentices participating in two distinct categories, showcased their precision, creativity, and rigor. Each presented galette demonstrated a strong commitment to the quality of the ingredients and respect for the artisanal process.

A 100% Lyonnais winner among professionals

The first prize of this 3rd edition goes to Romain Bauerle from the bakery Romane in Lyon 1st (an establishment already crowned with the title of best croissant in Rhône in 2025). He takes the lead over Florian Aupoix from the bakery Les Co'p.Antan in Lyon 6th district, and Victor Seignovert from Fournil & Fourneaux in Croix-Rousse. A trio that perfectly illustrates Lyon's artisanal excellence and the diversity of talents in the region.

In the apprentices' category, the victory goes to Dian Blanchard, who also works at Fournil & Fourneaux. Laura Buiret from Maison Braillon in Juliénas takes second place, while Noham Atia from Maison Febre in La Tour-de-Salvagny completes the podium. A
