It's official: the best bouchon in Lyon is no longer in Lyon, but in Villeurbanne. After the victory of the 4 G in Lyon's 9th district last year, it's now the turn of Café Lobut, a beloved institution on Cours Tolstoï for several decades, to be recognized for its authenticity, friendliness, and respect for local culinary heritage, according to Lyon Capitale.
The Florent Dessus Award 2025 will officially be presented on November 18th, a wonderful recognition for this iconic spot where you can still enjoy real bouchon cuisine: tablier de sapeur, soft quenelles, cervelle de canut, and a great glass of red. Here, the spirit of Lyon's mâchon is kept alive in all its generosity.

A well-deserved award for an undervalued gem
Behind this award lies the official association for the preservation of historic bouchons, established in 1997 at the initiative of the then mayor of Lyon, Raymond Barre. Choosing Café Lobut was a natural choice, following a specific set of criteria that guarantees the tradition, quality, and ambiance true to authentic bouchons.
