This year, BFM Lyon has decided to launch the first edition of the best bistro competition in Lyon. Since mid-October, the local branch has engaged the residents and viewers themselves by asking them to vote for their favorite spot among three establishments previously selected by a panel of professionals. Competing against Au Bon Cru (Lyon 2nd) and Bistrot de la Pêcherie (Lyon 1st), Café du Marché (Lyon 2nd) stood out with nearly 300 votes, a testament to its local roots.
A bistro with heart and flavor
At the helm of Café du Marché is Bénédicte Scattolon, a passionate manager who has captivated everyone with an unbeatable formula: "We have the market right in front of us, so all our products come from there. It's local, fresh, and delicious!", she explains to BFM Lyon. Add to that a loyal and motivated team, and you have the perfect recipe for a top-notch bistro.
And this success is also due to a unique atmosphere. Here, people don't just come to eat, but to share: "We're in a village, not a city. Everyone gathers here, we eat well, we drink well, and most importantly, we have a great time!" a regular happily shares.
A bistro that thrives from morning to night
Starting at 7:30 AM, the first customers arrive for their coffee or breakfast. But at Café du Marché, we don’t wait long to move on to happy hour, often starting as early as 11 AM with the famous Lyon pot that’s a crowd-pleaser. During the day, the kitchen stays busy until 4 PM, and from spring onward, the terrace becomes the perfect spot to sip a drink while watching the sunset over Fourvière.
