For 28 years, Café Perl was one of the essential destinations of the Peninsula. With its stone arches and large glass roof, the address had become inseparable from Place Francisque-Régaud in the 2nd arrondissement. Closed for good in June 2025, the celebrated establishment leaves behind a small chapter in the history of Lyon's cafés.
But there's no question of letting the place gather dust : a new chapter is already being written. From September 14, 2026, the old walls of Café Perl will welcome Paloma, an address that intends to completely shake up the concept of the Lyon café.
Paloma wants to bring a taste of Saint-Tropez to Lyon
For this new address, the traditional bistro makes way for a sunny atmosphere directly inspired by the South of France. Refined décor, elegant atmosphere and Mediterranean spirit : Paloma wants to give the
feeling of treating yourself to a summer break without leaving downtown Lyon. The concept is built on a simple idea : no need to change locations throughout the day. In the afternoon, the space transforms into a hybrid venue where you can work, browse through books, or simply settle in over a drink. Then, as the light begins to fade over the Peninsula, Paloma shifts once again to become a more intimate bar. Creative cocktails and sharing boards then take center stage to extend the day all the way through to after-work hours. This four-in-one concept perfectly matches Lyon's newest addresses, designed much more as living spaces than simple restaurants or cafés.
