With a record score of 9.02/10, the Rhône stands out as the most vibrant territory in the country. The study conducted by Tarotoo leaves no room for doubt: with its student energy, cultural DNA, and frenetic urban rhythm, the department shines. Lyon at the forefront, the metropolis crafts a lively, dense, and particularly accessible nightlife scene, which largely explains this crowning achievement.

A Density of Bars That Crushes the Competition

The Rhône boasts an extraordinary concentration of festive establishments. With 20.96 bars for every 100 km² – nearly five times the national median – and more than one nightclub in the same area, the department practically radiates party vibes. Casinos, counters, clubs, and spots to get your groove on at any hour create a generous nightlife ecosystem, where offerings are constantly renewed while remaining varied and inclusive.

Attractive prices for an urban department

Going out in the Rhône remains affordable despite its metropolitan status. A beer at €6.42, a glass of wine at €9.26, or a dinner for two around €64: prices are still reasonable for a big city, which helps keep the party accessible. The same goes for transport, where a metro ticket costs €2.05 and a taxi ride for 8 km is around €20.30, fitting nicely within a sensible range.

The department tops a list where the French coast usually reigns. Following the Rhône are Hérault, Val d'Oise, Nord, Finistère, Morbihan, Vaucluse, Calvados, Var, and Loire-Atlantique. The study also highlights the performance of Val-d'Oise, proving that Île-de-France is more than just Paris… Paris, despite having 2,000 bars, only ranks 16th, weighed down by its sky-high prices. On the other side of the ranking, the departments...The least festive places in France are Indre, Nièvre, and Haute-Marne, which make up the podium of nighttime boredom.
