Health in Lyon: a solid but insufficient healthcare offering
Yet, Lyon is a well-endowed city that, on paper, deserves better than this disappointing 15th position. Lyon boasts a density of 13.2 general practitioners for every 10,000 inhabitants, which is nearly 5 points above the national average. The city also benefits from top-notch hospital facilities. A national ranking based on local criteria
To establish this ranking, Femme Actuelle analyzed data at the municipal level, rather than at the departmental or regional level. Among the aspects studied were the density of general practitioners, gynecologists, nurses, and...midwives, the number of maternity wards and specialized services (endometriosis, menopause, assisted reproductive technology) and prevention actions along with local health policies. The results were then compared with the opinions of health professionals, elected officials, and patients.
