Despite its undeniable charm and vibrant atmosphere, Lyon still disappoints by ranking 94th out of 119 in the ranking of the safest cities in France published by Le Parisien this weekend. A setback that tarnishes the city's image, despite being highly regarded for its way of life and dynamism.
To establish this ranking, Le Parisien relied on data on delinquency provided by the Ministry of the Interior, taking into account a multitude of criteria such as burglaries, thefts, and assaults in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. And the conclusion is clear: Lyon has not been able to compete with the best cities in terms of security.
Lyon among the least safe cities in France
Annecy ranks at the top of the regional ranking, shining in 14th place nationally, while Saint-Étienne rises to 77th place, just ahead of the City of Lights. But Lyon is not alone in this descent into security hell. Its regional neighbors also bear the brunt of this unfortunate situation. It's better: Vaulx-en-Velin ranks 96th, Valence 101st, Vénissieux 104th, and Grenoble closes the ranking in 107th place.
So, who are the big winners of this ranking? Cherbourg, Boulogne-Billancourt, and Ajaccio top the podium, confirming their reputation as cities where it is good to live safely.
