Here's something that should make the city of Lyon happy! According to data released on Monday by the Rhône prefecture and reported by Le Figaro, crime has decreased in almost all categories in Lyon. The statistics show a decrease of 6.98% in drug use, while the number of arrested traffickers increased by 46.26%. Armed robberies have fallen by 28.44%, violent theft without weapons by 26.28%, theft without violence by 9.55%, and vehicle theft by 9.04%. Burglaries have also seen a significant decrease of 27.11%, while intentional assault has decreased by 2.75%.

Rise in sexual violence

However, not all statistics are trending downward. Unfortunately, sexual violence has increased by 18.49%. PHowever, state services ensure that all conditions are in place to welcome victims in the best possible conditions and facilitate their care. These figures are consistent with those published for the Rhône department in 2023, which already indicated a decrease in violence. This positive trend was praised by Fabienne Buccio, the prefect of Rhône, in an interview with Le Figaro at the beginning of the year: "We are on the right track but we must continue. Just because one step is positive doesn't mean we will win the race at the end of the test. We are achieving many results, particularly in the fight against drug trafficking, which is our priority. And for which we have put a lot of resources." Grégory Doucet, the mayor of Lyon, also expressed his satisfaction with this continuous decrease in delinquency: "This positive trend is the result of the daily mobilization of national and municipal police officers whose work I commend. Let's continue our efforts for the safety of all."Source: Le Figaro
