The community run-stroller groups landed in Lyon last September with a simple but incredibly effective idea: to show that you can be both a parent and an athlete, without having to choose. These unique running sessions allow young moms – and dads – to run with their child… comfortably settled in their stroller. Here, there’s no focus on performance or judgmental looks, just the joy of moving together.

Mama Running Club, the sport with a caring twist

At the heart of this concept, Doriane Rauline, founder of the Mama Running Club, advocates for a sport that is accessible and free of stress. Initially developed in Annecy, the run-stroller idea quickly spread elsewhere in France, fueled by a growing interest on social media. In Lyon, the requests have been numerous, proving that active parenting has found its audience. The motto is clear: we start together, we finish together.

Running together without pressure

Beyond sports, these sessions are also moments of meeting and sharing among young parents. In Lyon, the outings mainly take place at the Parc de la Tête d’Or, the perfect setting to ease back into the rhythm. The sessions, which are free and last about an hour, offer routes of around five kilometers at a pace suitable for everyone. The local expert, Camille Bramas, ensures that everyone finds their place and pace.

At the beginning of this year 2026, a new stroller run session is scheduled for this Saturday, January 17, starting at 10 am. It’s the perfect opportunity to lace up your sneakers, take out the stroller, and remember that before becoming parents, we were also – and always will be – athletes. In Lyon, running is now a family affair… and it changes everything.
