One of the greatest villains in movie history will have his helmet on display in Lyon. The famous black helmet of Darth Vader, which sent shivers down the spine of a whole generation, will be exhibited and preserved at the Miniature and Cinema Museum in Lyon starting June 15th. Designed by Ralph McQuarrie and sculpted by Brian Muir, this helmet blends medieval and futuristic influences to give Darth Vader that imposing presence and mysterious aura that define him. Inspired by samurai helmets and various fantasy and science fiction iconographies, it represents a true masterpiece of cinematic design.

A showcase for the galaxy's relics

The journey of the helmet to Lyon is worthy of an epic. Initially kept by a film technician, it changed hands several times before the last owner decided to entrust it to the Miniature and Cinema Museum of Lyon, thus enriching its impressive collection of objects related to the Star Wars saga. To celebrate this new acquisition, the Lyon museum will offer an exceptional masterclass with Brian Muir, the sculptor of the helmet, on June 15th. A unique opportunity for fans to delve into the behind-the-scenes of the creation of iconic Star Wars elements.

Dark Vader's Helmet and Han Solo's DL-44

The Miniature and Cinema Museum of Lyon is already a sanctuary for Star Wars relics, with pieces such as the original Princess Leia costume in "Return of the Jedi" (1983) and various Ewok costumes and makeups. The addition of Dark Vader's helmet and Han Solo's DL-44 blaster in the film "The Force Awakens" (2015) is adding to this fabulous collection.
