While the elected officials were debating in the municipal council, **members of the [PAZ](https://zoopolis.fr/){:target="_blank"} gathered in front of the town hall**, displaying committed signs and calling for an end to the captivity of wild animals. In a scathing statement, the PAZ reminded of the promises of the environmentalist mayor Grégory Doucet, who had made animal welfare a priority of his term. **However, according to the activists, little progress has been made since the EELV majority came to power.**

"We don't want larger cages, we don't want cages at all!"

The announcements aimed at enlarging and improving the living conditions of animals have not resulted in concrete actions, the association denounces. On the contrary, it demands an end to all forms of captivity, stating that cages, even if enlarged, are not an acceptable solution.

The zoo's opaque budget management is also being criticized by PAZ, who is demanding accountability for the use of public funds. According to them, taxpayers' money should not be used to confine wild animals. A protest in front of City Hall is just the beginning of a series of actions planned by PAZ to put pressure on the authorities and secure the release of the animals from the Tête d'Or zoo.
