Yellow skies, dusty cars, and a desert vibe right in the heart of the city: the Sahara is making a (not so unexpected) appearance in Lyon this weekend! From Friday night to Saturday, a well-loaded southern wind will bring along a cargo of Saharan dust, ready to gently settle over the entire Lyon region. And let's just say that your freshly cleaned vehicles and windshields are going to remember this one...

For a few days now, the thermometer has been acting up with summer-like temperatures flirting with 28 degrees. If you thought you were living in July, you weren't dreaming! This unusual heat for early May is due to a flow coming straight from the south, from North Africa. The result: weather that feels like an early summer... but with a little sandy twist!

A bipolar weather change in just 48 hours

This Friday evening, the weather cocktail promises to be spicy: winds carrying Saharan particles, possible rain that could turn every drop into a sandy trace on car bodies, and a sky with yellowish hues that might just take a dramatic turn. Because starting Saturday, the atmosphere is set to change. Météo France predicts thunderstorms, and not just any thunderstorms!

The Rhône is under surveillance with thunderstorms expected in Lyon and the entire metropolitan area, Saturday and Sunday.

After the sand, the lightning. A bipolar weather that will take us from desert to storm in just 48 hours. So this weekend, between car washes, keep an eye out (but not too much from the windows): the Lyon sky might just show you all sorts of colors.
