In Lyon, the future urban swimming area at Confluence Lyon is entering a decisive new phase with the launch of a major public consultation. Since this Monday, April 20, residents are invited to share their thoughts on this project that could transform the basin of the 2nd arrondissement into a must-visit summer spot. After entrusting the project management to SPL Lyon Confluence, the city is moving on to the next step: listening, adjusting, and fine-tuning.
The idea is simple: to build this swimming area with the people who will enjoy it. A questionnaire is available until May 31 on the participatory platform Oyé! that allows everyone to share their experiences.
set to share their expectations, fears, or desires. Behind this approach is a clear intention: to avoid a "top-down" project and to stay as close as possible to the real needs of the people of Lyon. A report summarizing the contributions is already scheduled for this fall to ensure transparency.Workshops, strolls, and on-the-ground immersion
In addition to the online form, other initiatives are also planned to give a voice to the residents of Lyon. Thematic workshops will gather locals, merchants, and users of the area to dive deeper into the topics. Even better, exploratory walks will be organized to allow participants to envision ideas right on site. A hands-on way to think about future developments, almost with their feet in the water.
A planned opening for the summer of 2027
If everything goes as planned, the bay...Urban bathing will open its doors in the summer of 2027 with three secure pools. Spanning nearly 1,500 m², the venue will blend relaxation and sports with spaces designed for everyone: playful areas to cool off and lanes for swimmers. This project is part of the transformation of the Confluence district and reflects a strong trend: bringing water back to the heart of the city.
