The 100% female service Uber by Women is making its debut in the Lyon metropolis after a successful test in Paris. Having been trialed in Paris since November 2024, Uber by Women is officially arriving in Lyon. With over 150,000 rides completed in the capital, the concept has been a hit, with 85% of female drivers feeling it enhances their safety and comfort. A green light for national deployment!
The concept is simple: a ride reserved for women, for more peace of mind. Thanks to Uber by Women, female users can request a ride for themselves, a friend, or a colleague, with a female driver. On their side, female drivers can choose to be connected only with female passengers. A double freedom that empowers women in their travel conditions.
Longer wait times, but accepted
Fewer female drivers, more waiting: a claim for compromise. In Lyon, nearly a hundred female drivers are currently available for this service. Of course, this impacts the wait times: about 15 minutes of waiting compared to an average of 4 minutes for UberX. If the option doesn't appear in the app, it simply means that no female driver is available nearby. Total transparency, with no false suspense.
Lyon joins a network of cities committed to more peaceful rides. Since February 9, Uber by Women has been available in twelve French cities, including Lille, Bordeaux, and Toulouse. The goal is clear: to offer an alternative.native credible for women who wish to travel stress-free, both day and night.
