A Lyonnais way chosen as the 2nd most beautiful urban bike path in the world

Lyonnais know it well: crossing the Croix-Rousse tunnel is a real experience in its own right. And now, this unique journey is also internationally recognized according to a specialized English platform.

In a recent article titled "Six Breath-Taking Urban Bike Paths Around the World", the specialized English platform Discerning Cyclist highlights Lyon's famous soft mode tunnel, awarding it second place, as reported by Actu Lyon.

This tunnel, reserved for cyclists, pedestrians, and buses, is a real feat of engineering and urban innovation. 10 meters wide and 1760 meters long, it offers a safe and comfortable space for soft transportation, alongside the road tunnel built in 1952.

Digital artworks to embellish the journey

But what makes this crossing even more special is the unique atmosphere that prevails there. In fact, to make the journey more enjoyable and less stressful, digital artworks are projected onto the walls of the tunnel at certain times, creating a true cultural and fun experience.

And if some may be surprised by the cost of this infrastructure, which amounted to almost 283 million euros, Discerning Cyclist rightly points out that the true price of a sustainable future is priceless.
