TCL Changes Line Numbers… and Raises Fares
The TCL network got a complete makeover starting August 31st with a new numbering system for its lines. The network now has 66 regular lines and over 120 school lines, each associated with a color. Some habits will need to change: T4 is extended to IUT-Feyssine on weekdays, while C3 and C11 are notably replaced by C27. A conversion tool and 250 staff members are helping travelers through this transition.
Bad news for your wallet: fares are also going up on September 1st. The monthly zones 1-2 pass increases from €74.10 to €75.90 for ages 26-64, while 11-27 year-olds now pay €26 instead of €25. The 10-trip booklet also climbs to €20.50.
Metro Line D Extends Delays Due to Construction Work
Starting September 14th, evenings will be regularly disrupted on line D.
n> Until December 22nd, work will be carried out on Mondays and Tuesdays around 9:30 p.m., with several phases and replacement buses to ensure continuity of service. The goal is to modernize the line and improve passenger comfort. In the long term, new air-conditioned trains should notably increase metro capacity.In Villeurbanne, helmets become mandatory for scooters
Users of electric scooters and other motorized mobility devices must now wear a helmet in Villeurbanne. The measure also applies to gyropods, hoverboards and electric skateboards. The municipality wants to focus first on prevention before stepping up inspections. A fine of €150 is planned for violations. The decision comes as accidents involving these devices have increased significantly in recent years.
Access to Groupama Stadium now costs more
SpectatorOL fans will also need to adjust their habits. Match tickets no longer automatically include tram shuttles to the Groupama Stadium for those without a TCL transit pass. The Meyzieu-Panettes park-and-ride lot is also becoming paid, at €12.50 with a reservation and €17.50 on the spot. This measure aims to reduce illegal parking around the stadium.
Perrache closes one of its tunnels until 2027
Drivers will also have to contend with the closure of Perrache tunnel 1, effective since July 28 and scheduled until September 2027. This route connecting the Gallieni bridge to the Saône quays is blocked during construction work. This closure marks the beginning of a massive renovation project in the area. Seven aging tunnels, some containing asbestos, will gradually be refurbished through 2041. With approximately 120,000 vehicles per day in the area, patience will certainly be needed.

Westfield La Part-Dieu will notably welcome a new L'Occitane boutique in September, followed by Mama House and Tasty Crousty between September and October. Le Chalet du Parc reborn after more than ten years
On September 18th, Le Chalet du Parc will reopen its doors in the heart of Tête d'Or after being closed since 2013. This 1960s building is becoming a place dedicated to ecology, culture, and the environment. You'll find an immersive experience devoted to the forest, exhibitions, and a restaurant by La Fabuleuse Cantine. The venue will also host an exhibition by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Hervé Le Bras.

Some Changes
In Lyon's schools, the new school year comes with a drop in the number of classrooms. 46 closures are planned against only 13 openings, meaning 33 fewer classes. The city explains this shift by the decline in population, with approximately 31,000 to 31,500 students expected this year. On the bright side for the metropolitan area, two new establishments are opening their doors: the Rosa-Parks school group in Saint-Fons (30 classrooms with a capacity of 530 children) and the Junko-Tabei cooperative daycare in Lyon's 7th district (with 46 spots for little ones aged 2.5 months to 3 years).
Other updates: the Crous meal at 1 euro is now accessible to all students. No need to be a scholarship holder to enjoy it, provided you have an active Izly account. And still at the national level, the ban on mobile phones now extends to high schools. Each establishment mustdefine its own implementation modalities by the end of September, particularly regarding sanctions and any possible exceptions.
