The city of Lyon has broken a new record, this time related to the weather. You may have noticed: it rained a lot nonstop for weeks in March. As the temperature kept rising, umbrellas and hats were a must-have in our daily lives this March. The capital of the Gauls has experienced its rainiest March in 60 years, with 137.5 mm of rain falling in one month, averaging 3.3 cm per day. March hasn't seen this much rain in Lyon since 1964, when 141.5 mm of rain was recorded. To put it in perspective, only 64 mm of rain fell last year during the same period, less than half of this year. The increased rainfall levels have caused the rivers to swell, leading the Saône and Rhône rivers to threaten to overflow for several days in Lyon and the surrounding region. The Rhône department is also under a yellow flood alert by Météo France. 🌊🇫🇷Check out this Instagram post shared by Le Bonbon Lyon! 🌟 Link: A post shared by Le Bonbon Lyon (@le_bonbon_lyon) 📸
