The Editor

The week is shaping up to be eventful in Lyon. This Thursday, November 5, 2026, a national day of strikes and demonstrations is being organized at the call of the CFDT, CGT, FO, UNSA and FSU unions. At the heart of their demands: wages, purchasing power, employment and the defense of public services.

A demonstration planned for 10:30 a.m. in Lyon

In Lyon, the meeting point is set for 10:30 a.m. at the Manufacture des Tabacs, in the 3rd district. The procession will then make its way through the city. The unions have filed a route declaration, but the final details still need to be confirmed with the local authorities. Traffic disruptions are therefore possible around the gathering.

TCL, TER, TGV: disruptions to expect?

On the transportation front, commuters will have to wait to find out how widespread the disruptions will be. Official forecasts from TCL and SNCF are expected in the coming days.

Subways, streetcars, buses, regional trains, and high-speed trains could be affected by traffic reductions or canceled routes, but no line can yet be announced as interrupted.

Schools and public services also concerned

Educational institutions could also operate at reduced capacity, depending on the number of teachers and staff taking action. Cafeterias and after-school programs are notably likely to be disrupted. In government offices and hospitals, work stoppages are also possible, though their scale remains unknown at this stage.

Our advice: before hitting the road or heading to your usual stop, check the updated information from TCL and SNCF as soon as it's published. Better to plan ahead than discover an unpleasant surprise on the platform!
