We could feel it coming, but now it's official: winter is hitting the gas. After a November that was way too mild to be honest, Lyon is experiencing a real polar chill. Since Wednesday morning, the thermometer has plunged between 0 and 3°C, reminding us that wearing t-shirts under our coats was just a little weather whim.
Frosty mornings, dry cold, and chilly bites
Since Thursday, frosts have been multiplying and sticking around in the region, turning sidewalks and windshields into an improvised skating rink. This weekend won’t be any different, with negative temperatures expected in several areas of the department. In short, it’s the perfect time to dig out gloves, scarves, and a bit of courage.

The First Snowflakes of the Season
Yes, we’re talking about snow! On Friday, the first flakes could fall in the west and north of the Rhône, especially around Tarare, Thizy, or Beaujeu. And the night from Saturday to Sunday might even surprise us with a light snow episode across a large part of the department. Lyon will probably stay a bit sheltered, but Sunday morning might see a few snowy traces outside the city center before the rain takes over.
Winter is settling in: time for some mandatory cocooning. With this sudden return of cold, it’s the perfect moment to switch into winter survival mode. Thick coats, steaming drinks, and XXL blankets: anything goes! Just a heads up, Lyon is going to shiver... but it almost makes you want to enjoy a cozy evening indoors while the first flakes dance outside.
