The dream suddenly fades away... The highly anticipated connection by Railcoop cooperative, which was supposed to offer a direct route between Lyon and Bordeaux, has been delayed or possibly even canceled. The reason? A rather grim financial situation, with a ruling from the commercial court of Cahors pointing out a debt deemed "unsustainable" for the young cooperative. This is not only a tough setback for Railcoop, but also for all those who were already imagining themselves enjoying a glass of Bordeaux after a day's work in Lyon (we'll have to do it in Lyon instead...). Back in June, Railcoop had already raised the alarm, revealing a whopping deficit of 4.3 million euros for 2022, and a desperate need for funds to stay afloat. Sadly, this financial distress was not enough to change the course of events. The City of Lyon and the Metropolis, who had invested 100,000 euros in this innovative railway project by purchasing shares in the cooperative, are now left feeling disappointed. Thal and Should now face this unexpected setback. It's a bit like offering the residents of Lyon and Bordeaux a direct pass to the future, only to later remind them that the journey is subject to the uncertainties of time and the economy. And given the current financial state...Here's the image showing the Lyon to Bordeaux rail line. Enjoy!
