The wheel is turning for users of Vélo’v in Lyon, and this time, it’s an upward movement… in prices! Since January 1, 2025, annual subscriptions for self-service bikes are showing higher rates, a first since 2018. So, is this a setback or a strategic advancement? Let’s break it down!
More stations, but also higher prices
The regular price jumps from €31 to €39 per year, while the youth subscription (ages 14-25) increases from €16.50 to €19.50. The Metropolis explains this rise by the addition of 30 new stations and service improvements. However, here’s some good news for those enjoying the solidarity rate: their price remains at €15, just like the individual tickets (€1.80) and the day tickets (€4).

Price Drops for Electric Bikes!
On the electric Vélo’v side, we’re getting a little breather! The standard subscriptions are dropping from €115 to €99 per year, and young folks can enjoy a reduced rate of €78 instead of €100. The solidarity plan stays at €49.20. Another exciting new feature: you can now pay for your subscription in monthly installments! For just €3.25 a month for a plan costing €39, this option fits perfectly with modern consumption habits.
Where it gets tricky is with the extra costs. Beyond the first 30 free minutes, the rates per minute nearly double: €0.10 for the first half-hour (up from €0.05 before), €0.15...
€ for the second one, and €0.20 for the next ones. A new increase that, although justified, might hurt our poor wallets a bit more...
