At the start of this week, Lyon is embracing spring with a beautifully clear sky and temperatures flirting with 18°C. The weather is almost too good to be true, already inspiring thoughts of outdoor cafes and sunglasses. But behind this calm, a much more intense weather shift is lurking, as announced by Météo-France and reported by Actu Lyon.

A drop in polar air starting Wednesday

Starting Wednesday, March 25, temperatures will take a serious plunge. The minimums will drop to around 3°C and the maximums will struggle...

We’re going to exceed 16°C. The sky will progressively cloud over with the arrival of some showers by the end of the morning. As if that weren’t enough, the wind will also make an appearance with gusts reaching up to 55 km/h. It’s a quick transition that reminds us winter is never too far away.

On Thursday, the atmosphere will turn quite chilly with barely 10°C at the best time of the day. The rain will continue, and the rain-snow line might drop down to 400 meters by the end of the day. Friday takes it up a notch with almost polar conditions: 3°C in the morning and only 8°C in the afternoon, which is a spectacular drop compared to the start of the week. The wind, still very much around, will amplify that cold feeling.

A still unstable weekend in Lyon

The weekend doesn’t look like it will offer much of a break for the people of Lyon. Saturday is set to be rainy with temperatures ranging between 7°C and 9°C, ah.accompanied by gusts around 50 km/h. On Sunday, a few clearings might finally break through, especially in the afternoon, with a slight warming up to around 12°C. A timid improvement, but still fragile. These forecasts should be taken with a grain of salt, with a reliability index of 2 out of 5 according to Météo-France.
