Lyon will welcome a stunning Moon for one night only. On April 2, 2026, the Super Pink Moon will light up the sky over Lyon, and even though its name might be a bit misleading, no, the moon won't actually turn pink. The term comes from Native American tribes, who named this full moon in April in honor of the Phlox subulata, a pink flower of North American spring. What’s very real is its size: at perigee, the closest point to Earth, it appears up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. No telescope needed: your naked eye will do just fine.
The Moonrise: A Moment Not to Be Missed!
Just after nightfall, look towards the east. That’s when the Moon gently kisses the horizon, and the lunar illusion really comes into play, making it seem absolutely gigantic compared to the rooftops of Toulouse or the banks of the Garonne. An effect that’s purely optical, but absolutely stunning. Don’t miss it!
oter: its intense brightness can disrupt melatonin and delay falling asleep.See this post on Instagram
