Part-Dieu station and its shopping center have the highest concentration of public delinquency in the region. According to Commissioner Grégoire Chassaing, interviewed by Tribune de Lyon, crime maps highlight this area as one of the most concerning in Lyon. It's no surprise, as the neighborhood attracts thousands of travelers and passersby every day, with 25% using the station merely as a shortcut between Villette and Vivier-Merle.

A police station still essential in the station

To tackle this flow, the police station located in the station has been maintained and remains very busy. Since January, it has welcomed 869 people, with an average waiting time of only seven minutes. Here, the most common offenses concern property crimes: shoplifting, petty thefts, or thefts from...

tire. But the neighborhood has also seen an increase in violent thefts, although it is still considered "manageable" compared to other sensitive areas.

An action plan strengthened since March 2025

La Part-Dieu is now one of the five neighborhoods targeted by the departmental action plan to restore public tranquility. More resources have been deployed, especially with the specialized ground unit from Guillotière, bolstered by foot patrols and reservists. Additionally, there are interventions by border police and the public transport security service.

Decrease in pickpocketing, increase in assaults

While crime rates remain high, some trends show improvement. Since the beginning of the year, pickpocketing as well as assaults have...delicious. On the other hand, violent crime is on the rise. This reality reminds us that Part-Dieu, despite its new improvements, remains an area under close watch, where security and attractiveness still need to find their balance.
