It's a bit of a logistical nightmare this summer for Lyon's drivers. The very central LPA Terreaux parking lot, tucked away beneath one of the city's most iconic squares, is closing for renovations. The announcement was made via a letter to subscribers (surprise letter, yay!), and shared by Le Progrès. What's the goal of this project? To modernize the infrastructure and, most importantly, to install 45 electric vehicle charging stations. Great news for the planet, but a bit trickier for those who are already struggling to find parking.
The timeline is clear: starting April 15, levels -1 and -2 will no longer be accessible to non-subscribers. And from May 1, it's a complete shutdown until mid-September. A tip: if your car is still parked there, it's best to plan a move before April 28 at 10 PM, otherwise it might have to spend the summer away... and not on the French Riviera.

Park in other city parking lots
In light of this closure, LPA is stepping in like a good friend, kindly suggesting that you park elsewhere. Saint-Antoine, Cordeliers, République, Bourse, Fosse aux Ours, and Grolée are offered as alternatives, with a total of a few thousand spots to share. That means it could get a bit congested on the access ramps!
In short, with traffic jams, charging stations, and a tug of war for a free parking spot, the coming months are looking intense for downtown users. But hey, to drive environmentally friendly tomorrow, we need to pedal a bit today, right?
