The people of Lyon were just starting to enjoy more comfortable temperatures, but this calm might not last. After several days close to seasonal norms, weather models are predicting another heatwave to hit much of the country, especially in the Rhône Valley.

The cause of this predicted increase is a very hot air mass coming from the Iberian Peninsula that could gradually make its way towards France in the coming days. If this scenario plays out, Lyon will be one of the areas most affected.

Temperatures of up to 38°C expected by the end of next week

Initial weather projections show particularly high temperatures ahead. According to the latest trends published by Météo-France, highs could reach up to 38°C in Lyon around Wednesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 30.

At this stage, it is still too e...It’s time to officially talk about a new heatwave. The forecasts for the next few days are still subject to change, and meteorologists will refine their analysis as the week goes on. However, this rise in temperatures is starting to seem like a more credible possibility today.

A situation still to be monitored closely

Even though no heatwave has been confirmed yet, it’s wise to stay cautious. After a start to summer marked by several intense heat peaks, the already dried-out soils and the temperatures we've seen in recent weeks could make the heat feel even more intense if this new wave settles in.
