Regulars on line C will have to change their habits. From Monday, August 4 to Sunday, August 17, 2025, there will be no more...The metro will not be running between Hôtel-de-Ville and Cuire according to information from Actu Lyon. The reason? A big modernization project led by Sytral, who wants to take advantage of the summer lull to carry out major work without causing too much disruption for daily commuters. It's a bit of a bummer, but ultimately, it’s a positive step for the future of the network.
What's the goal of the project? To overhaul the electrical supply of the line to make it more reliable, more efficient, and, above all, ready to keep up with the pace for the decades to come. A refreshing update for this metro line that’s a bit different from the others: Line C, which climbs up to Croix-Rousse on the rails of an old funicular (the steepest metro station in the world), has been bringing joy to Lyon residents since 1974.
Reinforced buses to minimize impact on users
During this forced break, TCL is working hard to ensure travelers are not left stranded. The C13 bus line will be enhanced between Terreaux and Cuire, with a robust frequency: every 7 to 20 minutes on weekdays, every 10 to 18 minutes on Saturdays, and every 10 to 15 minutes on Sundays. In other words, there's no need to pull out your bike or rely on emergency carpooling; a wheel-based solution is available.
