Lyonnais now have their say in choosing the soundtrack that will echo from City Hall. In a video posted on his social media, Lyon's mayor Grégory Doucet invites residents to share their suggestions directly in the comments.The proposed songs can then be adapted to be performed on the famous Lyon carillon. A mission entrusted to Charles Dairay, master carillonneur for the City of Lyon, who has been making the City Hall bells ring since 2012.
In other words, you don't need to know how to play the carillon to take part—you just have to suggest a song. And the first ideas already submitted by residents show that the future playlist could be particularly eclectic.
From Piaf to the Beatles, Lyonnais already have ideas
In the comments, great classics are already rubbing shoulders with much more recent tracks. Among
here are some suggestions including La Vie en rose by Édith Piaf, Imagine by The Beatles, or even Popcorn by Santa. The choice promises to be difficult, however, since the Town Hall carillon is far from being limited to traditional melodies alone.
