They had to get involved eventually. Online scammers are taking advantage of the summer season and the traditional back-to-school rush to launch a cunning scam targeting TCL subscribers (information from Actu Lyon). And be careful, this time, we’re far from a poorly translated email or a shady link straight out of the 2000s. No, here everything is polished to perfection: a flawless red logo, an official signature, a reassuring tone, and a well-crafted message. At first glance, it looks like a simple reminder: “Your TCL subscription is about to expire, click here to renew it.” But in reality, it’s a formidable trap that could cost you much more than an annual subscription.

A "perfectly" timed message

The message urges you to be vigilant, especially since the timing is just right. TCL subscribers are currently receiving very official messages regarding their subscriptions.

It's back to school time! The fraudsters have sensed a good opportunity and fired off an email that mimics the visual style of the real site: credible layout, a fake user relations manager, and a button leading to a totally bogus client space.

TCL reacted quickly by raising the alert on their site. If you have the misfortune of having clicked, it’s not too late to limit the damage. Immediately change your password everywhere you use it (yes, even Netflix if you’re still recycling the same one…) and quickly contact your bank to block everything.

One guiding rule: check the email address

The best defense is vigilance: if you receive an email from TCL, always verify the sender's address. Official communications come only from an address ending in @tcl.fr. Everything else goes straight to the trash. In 2025, cyber scams are disguising themselves better and better… but in Lyon, we keep our eyes wide open.
