While the people of Lyon dream of vacation, the Metropolis is rolling out the excavators. Every year, the months of July and August are used to carry out the heaviest operations when traffic is lighter. The goal: to make progress on major mobility projects and modernize the infrastructure before residents return in the fall. As a result: several key areas of the city will be affected by closures, detours, or disruptions until the end of summer.
Presqu'île and Part-Dieu: several sectors under observation
In the heart of Lyon, several construction sites will keep the summer lively. In Presqu'île, the works on the Kitchener Bridge will continue until August. The Metropolis assures that the impact on traffic will remain limited, although some slowdowns are to be expected.
On the Part-Dieu side, the schedule is significantly busier. The boulevard Vi...vier-Merle, the Boulevard des Belges, and Avenue Lacassagne, near Rue Feuillat, will welcome work aimed at connecting new buildings to the urban heating and cooling network. These interventions will continue until August 31. Avenue Félix-Faure will also be affected by repairs to the heating network until mid-August, while Rue Baraban is continuing the renewal of its installations to prepare for the future connection of the George-Pompidou school. Lastly, the Poincaré Bridge will also undergo maintenance work throughout the summer.
Villeurbanne: the T9 tram site continues to transform the city
In Villeurbanne, it's hard to escape the work related to future public transport. The construction of the T9 tram line is progressing between Croix-Luizet and Saint-Jean, with a notable consequence: the complete closure of the Roulet Bridge from July 6 to 24. Disruptions will be even greater on the La Soie side. Between July 15 and the...On August 2nd, the T3, T7, and Rhônexpress lines will be completely interrupted to connect the new tram to existing infrastructure. Shuttle buses will ensure connections throughout this period.
The ongoing construction of the future high-service bus TB12 will also continue to impact the areas around the Laurent-Bonnevay ring road, with several ramp closures planned this summer. Additionally, there will be work on the heating network in the Gratte-Ciel, Grandclément, and downtown neighborhoods, along with the continuation of the Stalingrad Boulevard project until October.
Vaise, Caluire, Vénissieux... other affected areas
Of course, the disruptions don't stop at the gates of Lyon. In Vaise, the Boulevard de la Duchère will be completely closed during the first half of August to allow for hillside stabilization work. Rue de Bourgogne will also continue its works.

In Caluire-et-Cuire, several actions on the sanitation network will accompany the restructuring of the Fontaines-sur-Saône wastewater treatment plant, particularly on Charles-de-Gaulle Avenue and Dufour Street. In the southern part of the metropolis, the construction of the future T10 tram continues to progress between Saint-Fons and Vénissieux. The teams will specifically work on connecting the overhead lines with T4 near the Vénissieux station, while urban development will continue in the center of Saint-Fons.
Detours planned throughout the summer
Good news nevertheless: access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Detour routes will be established for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians according to the progress of the various construction sites.
