Tara arrived at the Parc de la Tête d'Or zoo in Lyon in 2013 and quickly stole the hearts of visitors with her playful eyes and sweet personality. Last November, Tara sadly passed away due to chronic liver failure, leaving a sense of sorrow in the park and among animal enthusiasts in the region. With Tara gone, only Lotus and one of their offspring remain in the red panda enclosure at Parc de la Tête d'Or. This loss has created a void in this beloved spot in Lyon, where Tara brought joy and awe to many visitors. Tara's departure also highlights the vulnerability of this species. Red pandas, facing threats from habitat destruction and the impacts of climate change, are now on the brink of extinction. According to Lyon Mag, the WWF reports that there are now fewer than 10,000 red pandas left in the wild, signaling an alarming situation that demands immediate action to safeguard these charming creatures.
