Since Tuesday, February 10th, the BAURéaLS building has welcomed a technological gem signed by Philips: the Angio-CT Spectral, a device that is still quite rare on a global scale. Specifically, this ultra-efficient machine combines a state-of-the-art spectral scanner and an Azurion FlexArm interventional arch in the same space. The result: no more need to move patients between different rooms for complex exams and procedures. Everything can be done in the same place, in a secure, smooth, and optimized environment.
The Hospices Civils de Lyon thus become the first university hospital in France to be equipped with this technology, and only the fifth hospital in the world to have it. A true pride for the Lyonnais region, already known for its hospital excellence.
A True Medical GPS Against Tumors
The Angio-CT Spectral changes the game in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Gr&a...With spectral imaging, doctors can now analyze tissue composition with unprecedented precision. Tumors, blood vessels, healthy tissues: everything becomes clearer, more distinguishable, and easier to understand. This accuracy allows for refined diagnoses, optimized medical procedures, and reduced margins of error. In interventional oncology, every millimeter counts. With this technology, the teams in Lyon now have a true **medical GPS**, capable of guiding the most delicate interventions with enhanced reliability. Thanks to Angio-CT Spectral, procedures become more precise, quicker, and less invasive. Targeting lesions is more accurate, which minimizes damage to healthy tissues. The procedures are less invasive, making them often less painful and easier to tolerate. Spectral imaging also helps reduce the doses of iodine injected, thus decreasing some side effects. **A concrete response to**the explosion of cancers
A breakthrough that arrives in a global health context under pressure. In Europe, nearly 2.7 million new cancer cases are diagnosed each year. And according to the World Health Organization, this number could exceed 35 million new cases worldwide by 2050.
This innovation is part of a massive hospital project led by the Hospices Civils de Lyon. Launched in 2023, the extensive modernization project at Lyon Sud represents a total investment of 175 million euros. Of this amount, 150 million is dedicated to infrastructure and 25 million to digital equipment and tools. A colossal financial effort, but a strategic one, to make Lyon one of the most efficient medical hubs in Europe.
