The Editor

Just like last year, Place Bellecour dazzled millions of visitors at the Festival of Lights. The bubble "I Love Lyon" placed around the statue of Louis XIV in Place Bellecour won the Coup de Coeur award given by the City of Lyon and France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. This award was presented on Sunday, December 8, during the 25th anniversary of the Festival of Lights, following a public vote.

A creation that was part of the works from a previous edition is back this year! First appearing in 2006 and 2007, this piece by Jacques Rival placed the statue of Louis XIV under a huge snow globe. In 2nd place, we have "The Return of the Little Giant" by Les Allumeurs d'Images on the Place des Terreaux, another re-edition, while this year’s favorite on the podium for 2024 is "The Light Child" by Novelty and Scenitz projected on the banks of the Saône.

The other creations competing for this prestigious trophy were "Mother" by Julian Hölscher at Saint-Jean Cathedral, "Winter Blossom" by Darkitects in the Parc de la Tête d'Or, "Reflections Color" by Antoni Arola also in the Lyon park, and finally "Laniakea Horizon 2024" by Jérôme Donna on the square of Antonin Poncet.
