It won't be explained by a funeral or a wedding, but rather by the arrival of Pope Leo XIV in France that very morning.

Church bells in harmony with the Pope's arrival in Paris
The pontiff's arrival is scheduled at Paris-Orly airport, on Friday, September 25th at 10 a.m. And it's at that precise moment that all churches across France will ring their bells in unison, for a total duration of seven minutes. A symbolic gesture that will mark the beginning of a particularly packed visit for the Pope.

A first day spent across the four corners of the capital
That same day, the Pope will travel through the streets of Paris in his Popemobile. The departure will be from the Notre-Dame-des-Champs church, arriving at Place Saint-Michel. At 5pm then, the bells of Parisian churches will ring once again. In the meantime, he will also visit the Élysée Palace to meet President Emmanuel Macron, at the UNESCO headquarters, as well as Notre-Dame de Paris. This first day will end with a grand mass held at the Stade de France.
