Proudly planted on Rue de la Martinière since 1995, the Fresque des Lyonnais is a must-see in the urban landscape of Lyon, a living postcard where writers, artists, scientists, athletes, and committed figures who have left their mark on the city come together. This year, to celebrate its 30th birthday, the monumental work by CitéCréation is getting a makeover… and a youthful refresh.
Out (gently) go Paul Bocuse, Frédéric Dard, and Bernard Pivot, who will be moved to the upper floors, making way at the bottom of the mural for a vibrant new generation. As for Abbé Pierre, he has been permanently removed following complaints. But beware, you don’t just replace icons randomly! The CitéCréation workshop is calling on the people of Lyon themselves to suggest the future mural stars.
