The area around the Perrache Exchange Center is about to experience a significant transformation that will directly affect daily transportation. Starting April 29th, several TCL network lines will be adjusted to support the "Opening Perrache" project, led by the Lyon Metropolis. The goal is to deeply transform this strategic hub, often seen as confusing, into a smoother, more modern, and pleasant space to navigate.
Bus lines in for a shake-up for nearly two years
Until early 2027, Lyon residents will definitely have their routines tested. Many lines such as the C19, C21, 8, 46, 49, or 55 will have their stops moved, primarily on the Rhône side. Some lines, like the 31 and 63, will no longer serve Perrache. The outcome: a whole new playground for transportation.
us users, with routes to relearn and a few detours to anticipate, especially around the Presqu'île.Beyond the relocated stops, several lines will be diverted or partially truncated, impacting key routes like Cordeliers, Villeurbanne, or Oullins. Some stops will temporarily disappear, making travel a bit sportier for the regulars in the area. To minimize the disruption, enhanced signage will be deployed and specific measures, especially for people with reduced mobility, will ensure continued access to adapted platforms.
An ambitious project to rethink Perrache
Behind these disruptions, a long-term vision is taking shape for Perrache. With the departure of the international bus station to Gerland, the site will be entirely redesigned to become a true hub focused on public transport. More lvisible, more comfortable, and better connected: the future Perrache clearly wants to turn the page on its maze-like image.
While the coming months might be a bit challenging, they mostly signal the start of a transformation that has been anticipated for years. In simple terms, we’ll need to be patient, check our routes before heading out… and accept that Perrache will temporarily become a bit of a headache. But in the end, the promise is enticing: a hub that truly lives up to the Lyon lifestyle.
