It's the first vegan and solidarity cat bar in Lyon. Located in Lyon 7th for almost 7 years, Au Bonheur des Chats will definitively close its doors this Sunday, 2 June. A sweet and furry page turning.

One of the cutest and most compassionate projects in Lyon is about to close its doors. After nearly 7 years of loyal service in the heart of the 7th district, the vegan and solidarity cat café Au Bonheur des Chats will shut down this Sunday, June 2nd after one last service. Leading the project, Penelope and Charly have successfully combined their three greatest passions into one unique place: Japan, cats, and animal welfare.

Cats to pet...and adopt!

At Bonheur des Chats, it's a cozy teahouse but also, and most importantly, a place of solidarity because the cats roaming between the tables are all up for adoption. In other words, you can come in for a coffee and leave with a furry friend. How does it work? Thanks to a partnership with the association Ron'Rhone, which takes care of rescuing abandoned or stray cats from the streets. This sets it apart from a "traditional" cat cafe.

If the address offers the possibility of leaving with a companion under your arm, you can also indulge in delicious vegan cuisine. Behind the stoves, Charly ensures the feast as the good vegan he is. In a little less than 7 years, Au Bonheur des Chats has allowed the adoption of 381 cats (and it's not over yet!). The team announced its closure in a poignant post on their social networks.
