A final round before it's all over?
Initially slated for disappearance to make way for a project of urban forest, the famous winter fair at Confluence has surprisingly received a reprieve! According to information from Actu Lyon, the City of Lyon, currently in talks with the fair operators, has decided to push back the construction to allow this iconic event to once again delight its audience.
Allan Caillau, the spokesperson for the fair operators, shares: « Initially, we were told to pack up by January 19 instead of March 9. But that wasn't going to fly. So, we filed a notice of protest for the Festival of Lights. » And it seems this pressure really made a difference!
A small victory for the fair operators
The town hall, fearing disruptions during the major December event, ultimately...by granting a reprieve until March 9, 2025. A little victory for the fairground workers, delighted to reconnect with their audience, but they have no plans to stop there. "We're happy to be back, but we still demand a permanent relocation in the city. We won't back down!”, they insist.
Until a lasting solution is found, the people of Lyon will again be able to dive into the magical atmosphere of this legendary fair! On the menu: attractions, sweet treats, and a little breeze of nostalgia for what could very well be the last edition at this historic site...
