No need to book a ticket to Mexico to discover one of the most vibrant traditions in Latin America! La Commune, in the 7th district of Lyon, invites everyone to celebrate Día de los Muertos, this Mexican celebration that honors the deceased in a joyful, creative, and colorful atmosphere all weekend long.

Saturday from 12pm to 12:30am and Sunday from 12pm to 4:30pm, a large Latin market organized with La Puerta Asso and Vivianna will bring together around fifteen creators and artisans. Colombian jewelry, mosaics, ceramics, clothing, alpaca wool accessories, and Peruvian crafts: plenty of treasures to discover while exploring wonderful craftsmanship from around the world.

The most colorful event of the weekend

Families will obviously not be left out. From 12pm to 4:30pm, pay-what-you-wish workshops will let children ages 0 to 10 (and their parents) make Franco-Latin flags and take part in various creative activities. A relaxation area will also be available for babies and their caregivers. The youngest ones can even leave with artistic face painting, offered for 2 to 5 euros. Saturday evening, a local colors DJ set will heat things up.

And since no celebration would be complete without a few dance moves, two events will make the afternoon swing. Vivi Roma will offer an introduction to Latin dances from 2:30pm to 3pm, followed by a dancing session with the Voces Vivas collective from 3:30pm to 4pm. Sign-ups will be made directlyavailable on-site at a pay-what-you-wish price. So if the icy cold of this early autumn is making you nostalgic for summer, head to the 7th district for a huge dose of warmth...and color.
