50 Shades of Blue
Head to the town of Ambérieu-en-Bugey, about 50 minutes from Lyon, for a total change of scenery. Lake Bleu gets its name from the exceptional color of its waters, ranging from pale blue to turquoise depending on the light. This peaceful place is perfect for a relaxing break at the picnic tables or to start a hike on one of the many surrounding trails. To get there, take Rue de Vareilles, which goes through the eponymous hamlet. At the entrance of the valley, you will be greeted by Tricaud Castle park on the left and Les Échelles Castle park on the right. A beautiful introduction before discovering the lake itself.
A Journey Through Time
On your way, let yourself be surprised by a wayside cross and a washhouse, remnants of another era. At the foot of the valley, don't miss the Grotte du Gardon. This archaeological site has revealed treasures dating back to the Neolithic era, offering a glimpse into the distant history of the region.
Let's now talk about the lake. Where does this magical color come from? There are several legends. Some say that the enchanting blue waters are due to an ancient copper mining, with the metal oxidizing in contact with the water to produce this unique hue. Others prefer to see it as a magical effect or simply as reflections of light. It's up to you to choose your favorite version!Voir cette publication sur Instagram
A Jewel to Preserve
However, swimming and water activities are prohibited to preserve the natural beauty and tranquility of the site. Let's not forget that nature belongs to all of us and we have the responsibility to protect it. Remember not to park your vehicles in unauthorized areas, take your trash with you, and respect the peacefulness of the surroundings and their inhabitants. It's the annoying part of the article, but also so important...
